Meet Metuchen Optometrists
Dr. Ray Corbin-Simon:
Dr. Corbin-Simon has been a professor and practitioner for over 15 years, with extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of eye problems–from serious ones caused by diabetes, cataracts, and glaucoma, to everyday problems associated with nearsightedness and farsightedness, nowadays complicated by computer use. Dr. Corbin-Simon’s initial training was at the SUNY College of Optometry, where she then served as Assistant Clinical Professor for 8 years. Dr. Corbin-Simon also served as Chief of the Eye Service at the East New York Diagnostic and Treatment Center, and was on staff at several other hospital facilities in NY before moving to NJ in 2002 with her husband and two young sons.
Dr. Corbin-Simon is currently the Vice President for the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and is a consultant for the Power Practice.
Dr. Corbin-Simon is passionate about her profession and about the need to educate patients about the importance of eye health. She regularly attends conferences and seminars and has been profiled in the Fall 2005 issue of “About Our Town” in Piscataway as well as in a March 2008 article in “Women in Optometry.” Dr. Corbin-Simon is also involved in outreach efforts with Piscataway schools promoting eye health for elementary school students.
Outside work, Dr. Corbin-Simon enjoys sports, theater-going and travel with her husband and sons. She has mentored female students at Clara Barton High School, in Brooklyn for the “Women in Government” program, and is a member of the Scholarship Committee at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.

Dr. Madelyne Latorre:
I received my degree from SUNY College of Optometry and joined the In Focus family in 2014. My training includes an internship at Lyons VA Medical Center, where I fine tuned my skills in primary eye care specifically for veterans with common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. I also interned at Omni Eye Services in NJ where I saw a multitude of complicated ocular disease cases under the supervision of the region’s best eye doctors. At SUNY Optometry, I was an active leader in the Lyons Club, where I organized vision screenings, fundraisers, and eyeglass drives. I've also participated in the vision screening program “Opening Eyes” at the NJ and NY Special Olympic Games. My passion for optometry started during my time at Rutgers University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and a minor in psychology. Working as an optometric technician part time, I realized that becoming an optometrist was right for me. I'm now currently part of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association.
Working with the amazing staff at In Focus, I get to practice optometry the way I've always envisioned. I take pleasure in making my patients happy, and I truly enjoy creating relationships with patients while providing comprehensive eye care and making sure their vision needs are taken cared of. Outside the office, I like to spend time with my husband, friends and family, going to the beach, writing, doing arts and crafts and going to zumba classes.
